Match report to share and consider with your boy.

This is a home work out to improve cardiovascular fitness ( stamina ). If done 1/2 times per week things will improve.

Difficult game today, against a good team on a hot day!

Well done to the new boys Archie and Isaac for stepping into a new team.

There are many positive to take from todays game.

Some of the things we highlighted before the game leadership, scanning (looking around the pitch) and pressing

Very impressed with the leadership shown specifically from Magnes James S James V Archie and Orlando

This is something that will help everyone to progress on my overall aim as a coach : To be better football players and people

The pressing was an issue today as too often we were not putting pressure on the ball today, allowing Muswell Hill to have time and space when on the ball.

There were moments where we did press well with the closest player sprinting to the ball and making sure that player didn’t dribble past the them “ eat them up” , after this the 2nd closest player presses the player on the ball to “follow up“. In the moments we did do this we were able to successfully able to win the ball back which was good to see.

Unfortunately this diddn't happen enough, this is due I think to a lack of cardiovascular fitness ( stamina ). This is an issue that can only be addressed in the players own time and through their own will to get better. I have linked to a home work out to help.

The scanning is something we have been working on a lot over the last few months and this has made a real difference to our overall play! I was very impressed with the amount of times the players were scanning and allowed us to play one of the most intelligent and thoughtful games this team has ever played which is great to see.

As ever this team is not playing for results although everyone enjoys winning this is not what we do it for . We are playing for fun and self improvement both as players and people, and today even though we lost I think this was achieved.

Special shout out to those players who tried new positions and roles today it’s not an easy thing to do but I think you did well and hopefully learnt something there.

Thanks for coming ( especially parents who got the boys there ) and well done!

We go again!

Frank
